Important Service Disclosures

Last updated: August 17, 2025. This page explains the difference between my non-clinical coaching/consulting services and any psychology services that may be provided only when I am acting as a state-licensed psychologist. It is informational and not legal advice.

Non-Clinical Coaching (What I Offer as a Coach)

  • Coaching focuses on education, skills-building, goal setting, accountability, and media/storytelling strategy.
  • Not psychotherapy or healthcare: I do not diagnose, treat, or claim to treat mental disorders; services are not a substitute for therapy, counseling, or medical care.
  • No telehealth/telepsychology: Coaching sessions are not telehealth and should not be used for clinical concerns.
  • If clinical needs emerge, I will pause coaching and provide referrals to licensed providers in your area.
  • Emergency: If you are in crisis, call 911 (or your local emergency number) or go to the nearest emergency room. In the U.S., you can contact 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Psychology Services (When Acting as a Licensed Psychologist)

Psychology services are available only when I am licensed as a psychologist and you are located in a jurisdiction where I am authorized to practice. I will clearly identify the licensed role, provide my license number(s), informed consent forms, and privacy notices before beginning any clinical work.

  • Jurisdiction & client location: For tele-services, care is considered to occur where you are located. I provide services only in state(s) where I hold a current license or have formal authority.
  • PSYPACT (if applicable): When authorized (E.Passport + APIT), I may provide telepsychology to clients located in participating PSYPACT states. Coverage can change; eligibility is confirmed during intake.
  • HIPAA: Psychology services include HIPAA-compliant communications and a Notice of Privacy Practices. Coaching communications are not HIPAA-covered.

Title & Credentials Clarification

  • When offering coaching/consulting, I use titles such as “coach,” “consultant,” or “media psychology practitioner.” I do not use the protected title “psychologist” unless I am acting in my licensed role.
  • References to “media psychology” describe a field of study and practice; they do not imply that coaching services are psychological treatment.

Scope, Eligibility & Intake

  • Coaching eligibility: Appropriate for non-clinical goals (performance, creativity, wellness practices, storytelling). Not appropriate for diagnosis, treatment, or risk management.
  • Psychology eligibility: Requires that I am licensed/authorized in your location; we will verify your physical location at each tele-session.
  • Documentation: Coaching uses a coaching agreement. Psychology services use clinical informed consent and privacy documentation.

Note: By scheduling coaching you acknowledge these disclosures and agree that coaching is not psychotherapy or medical care. If you need clinical services, please request a referral or contact a licensed provider in your state.
